On May 21, Pastor Jim preaches on John 14:15-21.
When Jesus told the disciples he would be leaving them “in a little while,” the disciples reacted like frightened children. They were afraid they would be orphaned. Jesus promised them that they would not be so. He promised the coming of another “Advocate” who would stick close to them forever. The Greek word used is “Paraklete,” which means “one who comes alongside.”
I’ll be exploring the notion that we are called to be “Paraklete Christians.” We are called to “come alongside” the orphaned and disenfranchised all around us. Perhaps even the one sitting in the pew near us on Sunday.
