Gillian Westerman is responsible for Oak Hill UMC’s entire music program.
Prior to her position at Oak Hill UMC, Gillian was the Director of Music, Worship & Arts at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Anacortes, Washington, since June 2010. Gillian helped to plan worship services, directed musical groups, led a teenage music ministry, produced children’s musicals, and added visual and dramatic arts to worship services. The Westminster music ministry hosted a variety of concerts each year to give people outside of worship opportunities to experience great music and a loving community.
Originally from the small harbor town of Petoskey, Michigan, Gillian was raised in the United Methodist Church, where her father was a choir director. She received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Central Michigan University in 2004 and a Master of Music with an emphasis in Opera Performance at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) in 2006.
In her spare time she enjoys performing, long-distance running, traveling, learning foreign languages, practicing piano, learning guitar, and going to the opera.
