Where did you grow up and how did you make your way to Austin?
I grew up in Bandera, Texas, and came to Austin to pursue more career options (and maybe a guy).
What is your former work experience?
I have had a variety of jobs, none of which quite “clicked.” My background is primarily administrative, but I have also worked as a a commercial and residential property manager assistant, a surgical veterinary technician, and finally, in children’s ministries which feels like home!
When did you start at Oak Hill UMC?
I began working in the nursery in 2015 and then became an assistant teacher in the Oak Hill UMC Preschool in 2017 as well as Jenny Holm’s (director of children’s ministries) assistant.
What are your primary duties?
During the preschool year I am an assistant teacher Monday through Friday. I also do administrative and planning tasks for Jenny for Sunday school, camps, etc. I oversee the Oak Hill UMC nursery and am in charge of staff scheduling through a sign-up website.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
All jobs here involve interaction with the precious kids, and I feel blessed to be able to help in so many avenues. I love that no matter what job I do, it centers around God and his amazing works. I also love the freedom and creativity of helping do decorations and crafts for any of my jobs here. 🙂
How does your position help minister to others?
I feel Jesus everywhere I go on campus! We minister through Sunday school, camps, and even day-to-day operations.
What is one thing that few people know about you?
I used to work in Robert Earl Keen’s office and was a tour manager for Reckless Kelly (a long, long, time ago)!
