By: Youth Sunday School

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. – John 13:34-35

How do the youth in our congregation feel the presence of Christ, and know that He walks beside them? Here is what they shared.

I feel the presence of Christ…
…when I’m with my great grandma at the nursing home hearing the stories of her childhood…when I’m walking in nature and serene silence…when I’m standing by a glassy calm mountain lake at dawn, marveling at the wonders of creation. …when I hear the youth singing at the nursing home…when I am working on my garden…at church camp where we learn about God…when I give money to an animal shelter to help…caroling on Christmas Eve. One woman came out and was so, so happy she was crying…when I’m with my friends, and we have really, really deep talks about God and life. I see Christ’s acceptance in their eyes, and I’m thankful to be surrounded by Jesus- loving people.

I saw the hands of Christ at work…
…on a mission trip, where people worked on others’ housing, causing well-being, and increasing their hope… when my mother started her organization to help people around the world…when I saw a homeless person receive food and money from a stranger… when people help others spread the word of God, or devote years of their lives to service…during communion.

I know Christ is with me…
…when I walk alone with my thoughts, feeling not alone…when I slow down and talk to Him and pray…Every day. Through daily struggles to wonderful celebrations, I know God is always with me.
