Officer Josh Visi of the Austin Police Department will lead a CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) training session at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 7815 W. Highway 290. There is no charge for attendance.
CRASE training provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics include:
- history and prevalence of active shooter events,
- civilian response options,
- medical issues, and
- considerations for conducting drills.
The CRASE course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004, provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event.
