"Send Us Your Light" Christmas Eve Video | Dec. 7 - Dec. 19
We need your help! This year's pandemic has changed a lot of things and our Christmas Eve services are no exception. This year it’s up to us to bring the candlelight experience into our online Christmas Eve worship. Here’s how to bring the light:
Between now and December 19, send us a 10-second video of yourself and/or your family holding burning candles. We'll incorporate your video into a virtual candlelight moment at the end of our live-streamed Christmas Eve service. For more information and to submit your video, click here.
"Light of the World" Advent Study | Nov. 29 - Dec. 20
Join us this Advent season for a 4-week online study led by Pastor Stephen! The study begins Sunday, Nov. 29th.
The study is based on the book “Light of the World” by Amy-Jill Levine, an internationally renowned scholar and teacher. Levine explores the biblical texts surrounding the story of the birth of Jesus and traces the Christmas narratives through the stories of Zechariah and Elizabeth, Mary, the journey to Bethlehem, and the visit from the Magi.
HOW WILL THIS ONLINE STUDY MEET?
Each Monday we will post a 10 minute video featuring Amy-Jill Levine discussing one of the 4 chapters of the book to our Advent study Facebook group. For the remainder of the week we encourage you to read the corresponding chapter in her book and reflect on what you have learned. On Sundays we will all get together online via Zoom at 7 pm to discuss the readings and video and dig deeper into the history of the birth of Christ. The Zoom meetings will be recorded and posted to this page on Sunday night, so you can still participate in the study even if you can't make the Zoom meeting.
"Gifts for the Christ Child" | Goal 150,000 meals by Christmas Eve | Nov. 1 - Dec. 24
As you ponder what to offer the Christ Child this season, consider a gift to the Central Texas Food Bank. This year the need is even more acute with thousands losing their livelihoods due to the coronavirus.
For every $1 donated, the food bank is able to provide four meals to Central Texas residents experiencing food shortages. During November and December your gifts will be tripled so that a $1 donation during this period provides twelve meals.
As a church, we have set a goal of providing 150,000 meals to honor the Christ Child.
Gifts should be made no later than Dec. 25 to qualify for the matching grant. Make your gift toward 150,000 meals by going to the church online Giving website.
Scroll down to My Donation, click on the box under FUND, & select Central Texas Food Bank. Indicate the amount of your gift. Choose your payment method. Be sure to click submit to finish.
