The Listening Room presents Scrappy Jud Newcomb

Guitar player extraordinaire Scrappy Jud Newcomb plays a rare solo performance at The Listening Room at Oak Hill on Oct. 18.

The performance will be at 7:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary. A donation of $25 per person is requested.

Scrappy has been playing music with bands, singers, songwriters and late-night song swappers for the last 36 years. He has joined Loose Diamonds, Slaid Cleaves, Ian McLagan & The Bump Band, Patty Griffin and Ray Wylie Hubbard.

He can be found most Sundays playing regular gigs with the Purgatory Payers at the Gospel Brunch at El Mercado South and with the Resentments at the Saxon Pub.

He also writes songs and has released four of his own recordings. He has produced recordings for others including Slaid Cleaves, Jeff Plankenhorn and Jenny Reynolds -- the last two artists featured at past Listening Rooms.
