On March 5, Pastor Jim preaches on Genesis 2:15-17, 3:1-4.
Why did God put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden if he didn’t want them to eat from it? Mark Twain once said that God shouldn’t have told them not to eat the fruit. God should have told them not to eat the snake! That’s another good question: Why did God create the serpent in the first place? When I was a young dad, I wouldn’t have left a cookie jar on the coffee table if I didn’t expect my children to eventually take some cookies. Some scholars postulate that God actually wanted them to eat the fruit. I’m not convinced, but it’s an interesting theory.
We’re going to think through this ancient familiar story, the day Adam and Eve ate us out of house and home.
