Planning my first visit

Planning your first visit? Have you got a question? We're here to answer!

If you don't see the answer to your question, please feel free to drop us a line!

where is oak hill united methodist church?

Oak Hill United Methodist Church is located on Highway 290, just past the "Y", next to the H-E-B at FM 1826, making us easy to find.

Our area is full of history and beauty, and we are proud to be a part of it. We are happy to welcome visitors from near and far, so please come and join us for a worship service.

What should i wear to worship?

Feel free to dress in whatever makes you feel at ease! You'll encounter individuals dressed in their finest attire, while others might opt for a more relaxed look with shorts and flip flops.

You are welcome just as you are.

We don't pay attention to your clothing and only rejoice in your company.

What kind of worship do you offer?

Our Sunday morning services at 8:30 and 11:00am typically follow a traditional format featuring organ or piano music, hymns, and call and response liturgy. Additionally, we are planning to introduce a contemporary worship experience led by a band soon.

In the meantime, you can watch one of our services online to get a feel for what we are offering now.

When is child care available?

Yes! Childcare is offered on Sunday mornings during all our worship times. Know that children and babies are always welcome to stay in worship with their caregivers – even with their wiggles and giggles! We also know that sometimes adults prefer to have their little ones in the nursery where they can play. It is available for your family when you choose.

For classes and other gatherings, please contact Karla Sarmiento at childrenmin@oakhillumc.org or call 512-288-3836 to make a reservation in advance. Reservations help us plan for a healthy balance of children and caregivers.

Who can receive communion?

At our church, we practice "open communion," meaning that anyone is welcome to participate regardless of their affiliation with our church or the Methodist denomination. There are no age restrictions either.

We believe that everyone is entitled to receive this divine gift.

As the scripture says, "Taste and see that the Lord is good!"

Will i be singled out as a guest when i come to worship for the first time?

Absolutely not! We are thrilled to have you join us and have no intention of singling anyone out. While you may be acknowledged as a new face during one-on-one interactions, there won't be a specific time during the worship gathering for us to do so.

We do, however, encourage you to fill out a Connection Card that you will find in the bulletin (worship program). By sharing your contact information with us, we can personally follow up with you and help you become a part of our community.

Please rest assured that your contact information will not be shared widely, and you won't be automatically added to email lists or mailing lists. We appreciate the opportunity to connect with you and will respect your privacy.

where should i park?

If you are on campus to access our Children’s Building, Adult Education Building, or Fellowship Hall, you’ll want to park in the front lot of our property.

If you are coming to the church office or our missions building, veer to the right, go up the hill and park in the parking area to the right of campus.

If you are coming to the sanctuary, you can park in the front lot, or you can drive to the back of the property to find plenty of extra parking as well. Here’s a map of our campus.
