On April 29, Pastor Laura preaches on John 15:1-8.
In the last of his “I Am” sayings recorded in the Gospel of John, Jesus declares that “I am the Vine; you are the Branches.” Jesus’ metaphor reminds us that, through the Holy Spirit, we are connected to – and dependent upon – Jesus Christ. But that’s not all! For we, as branches grafted to the Vine, are called to bear fruit. And here’s the most amazing thing of all … we also once were fruit. Just as the fruit of the vine grows in bunches and clusters, so we as Christians grow in community, with each of us informing and contributing to the spiritual growth of others. As Leonard Sweet says: “We only get to Heaven in a Crowd!”
