“Does God have a plan for my life?” That is one of the questions you asked me to address as part of the current sermon series, “I’ve been wondering…” Does God have a plan for my life? If so, what is it?
For some people the answer to this question is obvious. They might point to our scripture passage for this week, “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord” (Jeremiah 29:11). They assume, “Of course God has a plan for my life. It says so in the Bible. Is that even a question?”
Yes, it is. And from what I have heard as a pastor, it is a question with which many of us struggle at some point in our lives.
As part of worship this week, I’ll share different ways that Christians have answered that question. I’ll also ask us to read the passage from Jeremiah in its fuller context, for it proclaims something important about God’s plan not just for lives, but about God’s plan for all Creation.
