“The Secret’s in the Mud”

On March 26, Pastor Katy preaches on John 9:1-12.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see. The metaphor of blindness as a spiritual blindness is thick throughout Christian imagery and Scripture, but like all metaphors it’s imperfect. The story of the man who has been physically blind since birth reminds us that even with his physical blindness, this man’s spiritual sight is far better than that of the Pharisees. When Jesus spreads mud over the man’s eyes and tells him to wash in a particular pool, this man not only sees what is before him, but is able to see the light of the world for who He is. In many ways, we too take for granted what we see on a daily basis and far too often miss the miracle in our midst.
